Cali, March 2017 – After three weeks in Medellin I went to the capital of salsa – Cali. This was supposed to be the real deal. And it was. What I haven’t had in mind that I had to start here from scratch again.
I started taking classes with Salsa Pura – great school, lovely people, good teachers, amazing vibe. But at the same time I got another recommendation of a private teacher that has recently got back to Cali form dancing and teaching in Dubai.
I met my salsa yoda Ronald Parra
And believe it or not – we started again with the basic step. Again and again. I couldn’t believe that I had to this AGAIN. I felt so stupid. I wanted to learn the crazy footwork. But ha, let me tell you something.
No crazy footwork without a proper basic step.
I felt stupid and that I couldn’t dance at all, but I also felt that I was in the right hands. With him I would learn a solid technique and I wouldn’t be afraid anymore of social dancing. Which I still am btw from time to time. But that’s a different story.
Look at me after learning 10-20 classes of salsa caleña in Cali
Here is the first video after I guess 10-20 classes with him. I guess I’m doing quite okay.
